I would like to introduce you to the individuals responsible for managing the academy. Although there are occasional changes in the coaching staff, some have been with APAA for a considerable time. This time, I will highlight their contributions throughout 2023, emphasizing their role in developing players from both the academy and the development stage, providing clarification to avoid any confusion.
APAA academy comprises players who register and pay their monthly fees, participating in training sessions on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Matches are played, or the Development league involves players who have graduated from the academy, as well as scouts responsible for evaluating trial participants. The following are the key steps to follow:
– The academy plays in the SAFA Greater LFA Mayfair league.
– The development team participates in SAFA Soweto LFA Johannesburg Academy League.
These coaches bear the responsibility of training all the players, with some working daily and others exclusively with the academy. Their experience grows each year in tandem with the increasing level of competition.
The academy’s success lies in guiding players who register but may not yet comprehend the elements necessary for reaching a competitive level. Fundamentals such as the technical, tactical, physical, and mental aspects are diligently worked on, aligning with different age groups. Emphasis is also placed on integrating education with sports, including making wise choices in friendships, understanding the importance of family, respecting teammates and opponents, and showing courtesy to referees and assistants.
Congratulations to each colleague and coach, including Technical Director Prof Augusto Palacios and APAA Director in the Administrative realm, Ricardo Rosillo. Special acknowledgment goes to the Financial Director, Madam Zoila Palacios, who also serves as the Director of APAA coaches, including Lakaje Maditja, Karabo Leepile, Velly Mayaulane, Nkosikona Mokwena, Thembikhosi Tshabalala, Khethukuthila Ntshele, Pleasure Petros, Simphiwe Zitha, and Colin.
Recognition is extended to everyone in their respective roles, with a joint effort evident in the coordination and assistance provided by Gabriela Palacios in the legal department, Augusto Junior in Marketing, Jhonathan Ubilluz as Coordinator, and Gareth Flusk as Medical Coordinator, supported by Kamohelo Sebastian and Blessing Khumalo as Physiotherapists.
This annual effort involves meticulous planning and execution of all APAA activities. Once again, thank you to everyone who contributes to the growth and improvement of APAA each year.
