The best of luck! Today, 11 June, begins the biggest football party in the world with the start of the FIFA World Cup in Mexico, Canada, and the USA. But, as fate would have it, in 2010 the World Cup was held in South Africa, with the opening match at Soccer City Stadium, where South Africa played Mexico, drawing 1–1.
And now, after 16 years, the opening match is being played again in Mexico’s Azteca Stadium between Mexico and South Africa. On this occasion, a message to Bafana Bafana: best of luck in this match and all the others to come.
But especially to our Academy ambassador, Lyle Foster, a player who was developed from a young age to become a professional player for local and international teams. Now, at 14 years old, we continue to enjoy his football.
We wish you the best, Lyle, in this opening match against Mexico and all the matches to come. Enjoy showcasing your talent and the experience you’ve gained over all these years of playing, with the support of his family, who also went to Mexico to watch the games and provide great motivation.
You represent South Africa and the APAA Academy of Professor Augusto Palacios.
