We have been practising at the Palacios Academy for two and a half months, during which all players have been evaluated and are being provided with the appropriate tools to continue their development.
The academy groups are highly enthusiastic, encouraged by the progress being observed—especially now with the league that started this past weekend, the Greater SAFA Mayfair League. Results are not the priority; the focus remains on player development, as well as individual and team progress.
The parents who attend to support and encourage the players also play a very important role.
Another key aspect is the graduation of players based on their improvement. Players are promoted to the development group, which competes in another league—the Johannesburg Academy League (SAFA Soweto LFA). This ensures that academy players remain motivated to compete at a higher level.
PIRATES CUP 2026
Our academy participated in this excellent competition from 3–6 April. The most important outcome was the opportunity for players to compete at a higher level and recognise the areas where improvement is needed. It was a great experience for the 22 players and the coaching staff. We also congratulate Orlando Pirates for their excellent organisation and high standard of play.
Registration at the academy is ongoing, and we remain committed to developing players from age 5 and up. Training sessions take place on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday at 4 pm, and on Saturday at 9 am, when we also play our league matches.
We will keep you updated.
