APAA 20 YEARS ANNIVERSARY

In 2005, the APAA Augusto Palacios Apprentice Academy was founded with the vision of developing players to the next level. This year marks the 20th anniversary of that dream, determination, and responsibility. I am deeply grateful for this initiative, led by the late Zodwa Kkoza, who now rests in heaven, glorified by God.

Zodwa was the driving force behind this academy, and I am forever indebted to the person who gave it all—the respect, passion, and hard work that shone through at Orlando Pirates FC. Zodwa will always be unforgettable and incomparable. It is impossible to forget the impact you had on our lives.

I also want to express my gratitude to Dr. Irvin Khoza, the Chairman of Orlando Pirates FC, for supporting this academy. To all the administrative and technical staff who worked tirelessly to achieve excellence, and to the players and parents who have consistently supported us, we are truly grateful for the opportunity to work together and take our players to new heights.

This academy is now celebrating its 20th anniversary, a milestone marked by the development of many talented players who have gone on to represent South Africa at the national level and play for professional teams both locally and internationally.

From the very beginning, we recognized the unique needs of players entering the academy. We observed their talent and identified their playing styles and characteristics. This approach allowed us to tailor our training programs to meet their specific requirements, enabling our players to reach and maintain a high level of performance.

The support of the players’ families has been instrumental in their success. Their unwavering commitment to their children’s training and attendance at league matches has been a driving force behind our players’ achievements.

As we celebrate this milestone, I am filled with pride and gratitude for the journey we have undertaken together. The APAA Augusto Palacios Apprentice Academy has come a long way, and I am confident that it will continue to thrive and inspire future generations of players.

Football and education are closely intertwined, and it’s challenging to balance the demanding aspects of training, playing, and competing while striving for improvement.

I am grateful to God, my family, and all the dedicated individuals who continue to work at the academy, nurturing the growth of players, coaches, and administrators.

May each of you be blessed and thank you for your unwavering support.

We will keep you informed about our ongoing endeavors.
