On August 9, the Prof. Augusto Palacios Cup, presented by Adidas, was inaugurated.
This cup is the initiation of giving an opportunity to all the players who come from outside Gauteng, and that is how it was since the teams that registered and were present were from Mafikeng, Mpumalanga, Limpopo Vaal, Kimberly Northwest, Rustenburg, Soweto, etc.
On our soccer holiday with the ages ranging from U10 to U17, the support of family members was the most important thing during these matches; j
oy was always seen and sorrow was felt, but that is the emotion of soccer; without it, there will be no passion.
That is why we thank all the participants who had the opportunity to participate. As always, there is an incident that is part of the activity, but it is always solved in the best way. But you must alwa
ys know that the most important examples are the coaches; they are the example and ro
le model of their players, so being a coach is an immense responsibility.
It was played on all the fields that we have, an
d the final was played by the U10, U13, U15, and U17 categories. In reality, there were several categories, and the structure and organisation of some academies and clubs were surprising. I congratulate you.

ell as APAA, participated in all categories. The champions and runners-up in the 4 categories were awarded silver and gold medals as the trophy and Adidas products with the assistance of Sport Marketing Manager Bob Maphosa, such as mini, size 4, and size 5 soccer balls, bib caps, sets of jerseys, etc. Thanks to Adidas for their great contribution to the development of soccer. The coaches who reached the final were also awarded their APAA medals and caps.
Thank my family for the great collaboration: my wife Zoila and my children Gabriela Augusto Jr. Like my family, Gareth Taryn, and my grandchildren, Alessandro, Mariella, and Santiago Adriano, and our technical and administrative part, Ricardo Jhonathan, and my coaches as APAA players, all of them contributed to the success of this first Augusto Palacios Cup.
Hopefully, we can do it again. Thank you once again for participating, and the beneficiaries were the players who enjoyed the best sport in the world, which is soccer.
Just on this day, Women’s Day was celebrated on August 9, 2023.
