After eight months of activity, the developmental stage players wrapped up the 2023 league, featuring 11 competitive teams. From March to early November, home and away games were consistently played across the four divisions for age groups U13, U14, U15, and U17. The final standings for each category at the end of the matches were as follows: U13 first, U14 second, U15 third, and U17 sixth.
A total of 24 games were played throughout this period. The age continuity of the players was maintained, with, for example, half of the U13 team being 12 years old, allowing them to continue in the U13 category next year. Similarly, players from U14, U15, and U17, with most U17 players and some U15 players, have graduated to the senior team, which competes in the SAFA Regional League, a high-level competition.
As the season concludes, players will review recorded matches to identify areas for improvement. Some players are set to graduate at different ages based on their outstanding performance and growth. Additionally, there are players being groomed for opportunities abroad, with some already identified by scouts.
Acknowledging the importance of education, especially during exam times, the academy supports players, practicing only once a week in November.
As the year comes to a close, our satisfaction stems from prioritizing the consistent development of players rather than solely focusing on winning every game or securing the league title. The emphasis remains on making players better each day, month, and year, fostering both skill and personal development. Coaches, recognizing their crucial role, continue to improve in guiding players effectively.
